The Mid-Year Scramble was held at South Hills Golf Course on Monday. Winners determined by matching cards by handicap holes. First place team was Dave Young, Ray Glasgow, Ted Charles and Jim Wirges with a score of 60. Second place went to Joe McCourt, Greg Kraus, Rob Groat and Jeff Robinson with a score of 64. The team of Brian Eckwald, Bob Burlingame, Joe Ianniello and Lynn Butcher grabbed third place with a score of 64. Closest to the pin: Sam Allessi (No. 4), Rob Groat (No. 9), Joe Palermo (No. 13) and Dave Nichols (No. 15).

Next match will be at Union City GC at 9 a.m. Monday.

Girls4Golf (July 24) — The Tuesday night league missed the rain, with low scores going to sub Judy Mowery with a 46, Nancy Phillips with a 54, and Donna Merritt with a 58. Low combined scores was won by Deb Yerico and Nancy Phillips and low putts was won by Nancy Phillips.

(July 24) — (U-6) Storer’s Cyclones defeated Roy G Biv, 4-2. Scoring for Storer’s Cyclones was Dominic Armstrong with four goals. Scoring for Roy G Biv was Brayden Beichner with two goals.

King Kone won over Lula Roe, 3-2. Scoring for King Kone was Hunter Edson with three goals. Maralyn Hebner and Donald Easton each scored for Lula Roe.

(U-8) Park Church had the victory over Barney’s Hoof Trimming, 3-0. Scoring for Park Church was Alicyn Reed (assist Madison Hinton), Madison Hinton and Mason Hinton.

Homestead Stables tied Jamestown Macadam, 2-2. Scoring for Homestead Stables was Brody Hawkins with two goals. Scoring for Jamestown Macadam was Kristyn McVey with two goals for the tie.

(U-11) Bethany Camp topped Library Bookworms, 4-2. Scoring for Bethany Camp was Connor Main with two goals (assist Parker McLane) and Anna Burlingame (assist Connor Main). Scoring for Library Bookworms was Breonna Hopkins and Jakob Wilson.

SKM beat KCR Enterprises, 4-1. Scoring for SKM was Emiley Anderson with four goals (assists Jackson Hattaway, Ashlynn Smith, Tristan Stewart). Scoring for KCR was Keith Mesler.

(U-16) Southern Tier Land won over Southern Chautauqua Federal Credit, 7-1. Scoring for Southern Tier was Grace Elder with two goals, and Chase Pierce, Alex Reynolds (assist Noah Richner), Evan Reynolds, Owen Meyers and Noah Richner each had one goal. Scoring for Southern Chautauqua FCU was Steven Biggers (assist Haydn Myers).

MK Mustangs edged Gerry Free Methodist, 2-1. Scoring for MK Mustangs was Dominic Huston and Jared Dorman (assists Owen Sorber, Cassie Mosher). Scoring for Gerry Free Methodist Church was Drake Pierce (assist Johnathon Brockelbank).

Fredonia fall baseball and softball signups today

Signups for Fredonia fall baseball and softball will be held today at the Ed Eagan Complex in Fredonia from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Any Majors/Wright League players from this year or entering next year are eligible. Cost is $30. Games will begin Aug. 12 and run until Sept. 30.

DHS/CMHS/FHS alumni tourney set for Aug. 3

The DHS/CMHS/FHS Alumni Golf Tournament will take place Aug. 3 at Shorewood Country Club with a 10 a.m. shotgun start.

The ninth annual tourney will benefit the Dunkirk-Fredonia Little League and Girls Softball programs. Honorary starters are Dunkirk Mayor Willie Rosas and Jack Shubert, Shorewood’s “pro emeritus.”

Registration in the grove next to the pro shop is 8:30 a.m. A group photo will be at 9:45 a.m. Cash bar 3 p.m., dinner 4:30 p.m. Trophy presentation, door prize and silent auction will be after dinner. There will also be a $500 hole in one contest sponsored by Mary Asher in memory of Tom Asher.

Cost is $80 per golfer and includes golf, cart, coffee and donuts, dinner buffet and dessert. Non-golfers can attend the dinner buffet for $27 per person. Email signup sheets to miami72@comcast.net. Dunkirk athletics sports physicals today

Dunkirk High School will be offering free sports physicals to all students in grades 7-12 today from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. A permission slip is needed and can be picked up in the main office or the nurses office at the high school. If you have any questions, please call the athletic director, Mike Sarratori, at 861-2047.

Also, all athletes need a new blue card turned in as soon as possible to the high school athletic office or nurses office.

Gary Tripp Memorial Golf Tournament Aug. 25

The Tenth and Final Gary Tripp Memorial Golf Tournament (GTMGT) plans are progressing and on the First Tee. The 2018 tournament is set for Aug. 25 at the Vineyards Golf Course in Fredonia. Registration starts at 9 a.m. The shotgun start is at 10 a.m.

The registration fee of $65 per golfer includes food on the course and dinner at the Kosciuszko Club and a golfer’s gift. The deadline to sign up is Aug. 6. Contact Katie or Pat at 366-1044. Extra foursome forms and sponsor forms will be available at the K Club.

Monies raised from past tournaments have been used to establish an annual Gary Tripp Colorectal Cancer Research fund at Roswell Park, an annual GTMGT Dunkirk High School Scholarship and an annual donation to the GTMGT SUNY Fredonia Scholarship.
