Wednesday Travel League
The league played Lake View Country Club in North East, PA for the first time, the 65th different course to be played in the league’s history. Despite temperatures barely reaching the low 40’s, Robert Calph was able to continue his record-breaking run of victories with the low score of 82. The win was his ninth straight event of shooting the low score or being tied for the low score. He also set the single season record for victories with 13, eclipsing the previous mark of 12 held by Kerry Murphy and Ed Tofil. Calph led the front nine with 40 while Mike Wolfe led the back nine with 41. Dave Criscione and Bob Thompson tied for second place with 89’s. Wolfe, this season’s runaway points leader, became just the third golfer to reach 600 points in a season, joining Mike Baron and Ed Tofil (twice). Butch Mackowiak was the B Flight champion. The winner of the Bruce “Java” Chrabasz Commissioner’s Award was Gary Haase.
