Meet the Chautauqua Hurricane team Saturday
The Chautauqua Hurricane will be hosting a meet the players event on Saturday, Feb. 16 at The Salvation Army in Dunkirk. Fans will be offered a homemade meal, while fans can participate in free throw and 3-point contests with prizes available to the winners. There will also be a bake sale. The Hurricane will play against the Chautauqua Center at 2 p.m. that day. Tickets cost $10 and must be purchased by Feb. 11. Chaut. Sports Hall of Fame banquet is Monday
Tickets may be purchased at the Feb. 18 event at the Jamestown Cycle Shop, 10 Harrison Street, Jamestown; Matt’s News, 93 E. Third Street, Dunkirk; and the Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame, 15 W. Third Street in Jamestown. Tickets can also be ordered by phoning 485-6991. The price per ticket is $50. CSHOF members receive a $5 discount.
Inductees for the Class of ’19 are Cheryl Bailey, Tiffany Decker, Vince Gullo, Chuck Johnston, Jack Harper, Luella Kye, Michael Lopriore, Bob Palcic and Mark Weaver.
The Lakewood Rod and Gun Club, 433 East Terrace Avenue, Lakewood, will again host the CSHOF banquet. Hospitality begins at 5 p.m. with dinner to follow at 6 p.m.
Westfield Little League registration is Feb. 25
The 2019 Westfield Little League baseball and softball registration will be held on Feb. 25 and Feb. 28 from 6-8 p.m. in the WACS cafeteria. Please bring copies of birth certificates for all players.
SUNY Fredonia hosting youth futsal March 3
SUNY Fredonia will be hosting a youth futsal play day on Sunday, March 3 at Steele Hall
Here are the rules and regulations: U8-U14 boys/girls/co-ed, two fields on 35 by 25 yard field house surface, six-a-side (including goalkeeper, 3-game guarantee (30 minute games.

Dunkirk baseball to host Comedy Night March 9
The Dunkirk baseball team will be holding their annual Comedy Night on Saturday, March 9 at The Clarion Hotel at 7 p.m. with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. There will be a cash bar and a light menu available. Tickets are available at the Matts News. You can call Dunkirk’s head coach Frank Jagoda at 785-4313 for more information about the event.

20- Parent/spring athlete meeting with their coach and AD in the High School main gym at 6 p.m. REQUIRED.
21- Make-up physicals in High School nurse’s office by appointment through the nurse.
26- Deadline to sign up for a sport and to turn in a blue card — no exceptions.
28- Preselected DMS kids tested for High School sports — 3 p.m. High School main gym.
March:
4- First day of varsity and junior varsity sports.
25- First day of modified sports.
Catt. County Hall of Fame names Class of 2019
The 17th Annual Cattaraugus County Sports Hall of Fame Banquet will be held on Saturday, March 30 at the Cattaraugus Firemen’s Club beginning at 6 p.m.
The HOF has selected 13 new members to be inducted this year that include: James Wojdan, (Cattaraugus-Little Valley), Peter Spear, (Franklinville), Kathy Woznek, (Olean), Doug Seamans, (Randolph), Scott Crist, (Salamanca), Tim Geiger, (Gowanda), Steve Skvarka, (Allegany-Limestone), Mike Loftus, (Ellicottville), Mary Doud, (Pioneer), Mike Williams, Jr., (West Valley), Lynford “Wimpy” Swetland, (Portville), Ken Roberts, (Hinsdale) and Marty Brisky (Cattaraugus County game official).
Tickets for the banquet and induction ceremony are $25 and can be reserved be emailing hidibenton@aol.com or call banquet chairman Mark Benton at 532-4053. The deadline for reservations is March 22.
