Dunkirk Little League registration is Sunday

The Dunkirk Little League will hold registration for the upcoming year starting on Sunday, Feb. 24 from 2-5 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 28 from 6-8 p.m. and Sunday, March 3 from 2-5 p.m. All registrations will be held at the American Legion Post 62 located at 211 Central Av Dunkirk. All kids wishing to play must register. Ages 4-12 for boys and girls and any boy who would like to play senior baseball ages 13-16. All new players must bring a copy of the original birth certificate. Any questions check out the league’s Facebook page or contact League President Gary Haase at 679-6929.

Introductory Pickleball class to be held Tuesday

Northern Chautauqua Pickleball announces an introductory class on how to play pickleball. It will take place Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 6 p.m. at St. Anthony’s gym, 32 Moore Ave., Fredonia. Dunkirk baseball to host Comedy Night March 9

The Dunkirk baseball team will be holding their annual Comedy Night on Saturday, March 9 at The Clarion Hotel at 7 p.m. with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. There will be a cash bar and a light menu available. Lake Shore 3-on-3 basketball tourney is March 9

The Lake Shore High School Academy of Business and Finance will be sponsoring its annual 3-on-3 basketball tournament on Saturday, March 9. The double elimination tournament will be held at the Lake Shore High School gymnasium, 959 Beach Road, Angola with staggered start times beginning at 8 a.m. and ending at 5 p.m.

Registration fees are $140 for 4-person adult teams, $100 for 4-person high school teams and $60 for 4-person youth (9-12 year old) and middle school teams. The registration fee includes an event jersey for each player. Brackets include Open Men, Open Women, High School Boys, High School Girls, Middle School Boys, Middle School Girls, Youth Boys and Youth Girls. Register online at www.lakeshorecsd.org.

The academy will also be hosting a chicken barbecue at the event — the cost is $10 per meal. Meals may be prepurchased — information is available with registration information on the district’s website listed above. Basket drawings will also be held. Black Knights Barbecue fundraiser is March 31

The Silver Creek/Forestville Baseball Boosters will host a “Chicken Barbecue and Basket Raffle” on Sunday, March 31 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Firehouse on the Lake, 21 Jackson St., Silver Creek. Tickets cost $10 and are available from any Jayvee or Varsity player or by calling or texting (716) 907-5552.

Catt. County Hall of Fame names Class of 2019

The 17th Annual Cattaraugus County Sports Hall of Fame Banquet will be held on Saturday, March 30 at the Cattaraugus Firemen’s Club beginning at 6 p.m.

The HOF has selected 13 new members to be inducted this year that include: James Wojdan, (Cattaraugus-Little Valley), Peter Spear, (Franklinville), Kathy Woznek, (Olean), Doug Seamans, (Randolph), Scott Crist, (Salamanca), Tim Geiger, (Gowanda), Steve Skvarka, (Allegany-Limestone), Mike Loftus, (Ellicottville), Mary Doud, (Pioneer), Mike Williams, Jr., (West Valley), Lynford “Wimpy” Swetland, (Portville), Ken Roberts, (Hinsdale) and Marty Brisky (Cattaraugus County game official).
