Women Who Golf for Fun

Four hardy golfers tried to beat Mother Nature on Wednesday, but Mother Nature won. Women Who Golf for Fun will try again on Wednesday, June 5, at the Vineyards, front nine. Tee off at 10 a.m., all skill levels welcome, no partner needed — just golf for fun. With questions, contact Jan at 672-4255.

Monday Night Vineyards Utility Golf League

League play will begin this Monday with a 4:30 p.m. tee-off on Hole 1 until all league golfers have teed off. There is still room for more golfers and subs if interested. This is a handicap league. All golfers need to report to the log cabin building to sign in. With any questions, feel free to call Bob Manning at 679-5799 or John Lakas at 679-6890.

Mary’s Deli vs. Knot Right Fishing Charters

Knot Right’s potent offense was led by Sophia Utegg, Heaven Calvey, Katie Hemingway and Gabby Orton, who all recorded four hits each. Cady Phillips added three hits, while Reagan Weingart and Danika Horton each singled twice. Mary’s Deli was led by Brianna Dougherty and Jenna Fryberger with two hits each. Bryleigh Wicks, Braelynn Wicks and Yaleiz Alvarez all added singles.

Brocton-Portland Little League

Casale Plumbing 26, East Main Auto 10

Casale Plumbing defeated East Main Auto, 26-10, in Brocton-Portland Minor League Machine Pitch baseball. Casale’s offense was powered by Michael DiLorenzo and Banner Bundy each going 5-for-5 with Sarah DiLorenzo and Kasey Doino going 4-for-4. Michael Blake provided solid defense. East Main was led at the plate by Jayden Mulville hitting 4-for-4 with Kellan Pryll and Dylan Enders each going 3-for-3. Ben Beaujean contributed 3 hits and Isaac Brady added a spark on defense.

Brocton-Portland Minor League Machine Pitch

Casale Plumbing 17, Main Diner 3

Brocton’s Casale Plumbing defeated Westfield’s Main Diner 17-3. Brocton had five players perfect at the plate with Banner Bundy going 4-for-4 along with Michael DiLorenzo, Sarah DiLorenzo, Michael Blake and Ryder Carlton each going 3-for-3. Westfield’s hitting leaders were Caleb Freified and Bryson Post going a perfect 3-for-3 with Solomen Freified, Tyler Tolbert and Geoffrey Thomas adding hits.

Men’s Senior Baseball

Stuart Tool and Die A’s 6, Sunset Bay Braves 4

The A’s spotted the Braves an early three-run lead, then stormed back in the third inning with five runs of their own and never looked back. Austin Spicer (triple), Zack Nykula (double), Brandon Shelters, Brian Wojcinski and Jim Quinn led the A’s offense. Spicer and Nykula split the duty on the hill, striking out seven and scattering six hits for the win and the save, respectfully. Bob Bankoski was the defensive star flashing the leather with several nice plays at first base. Cody Hehir took the loss while Cody Wicks had two hits.

Kiwanis Club Charity Golf Tournament is June 28

On Friday, June 28, the Silver Creek Kiwanis Club is seeking participants for its 24th Annual Charity Golf Tournament. It will be held at Tri-County Country Club in Forestville. The day will include a continental breakfast, golf, lunch, appetizers and prizes. Check in is from 7:45 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8:45 a.m., rain or shine. The format is a four-man scramble.

The Kiwanis Club supports children in the communities of Silver Creek, Forestville, Sheridan, Irving and the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation. Their work funded solely through fundraisers and contributions. It is the goal of this club to continue to have a meaningful impact on our community’s children.

Entry fee is $110 ($95 if paid by June 21). Deadline to register is June 26. Numerous sponsorships, tee signage and raffle opportunities exist. Email your questions or interest to Gailmiller3@aol.com.

The Bella’s Women’s League starts June 13

The Bellas Women’s League at Vineyards Golf Course will begin their 2019 season on Thursday, June 13. The league has moved to Thursday mornings name draw at 9:30 a.m., tee offs begin at 10 a.m. Join at any time, no partner needed. All skill levels are welcome. Call the Vineyards Clubhouse at 672-7888 for more info.

Tuesday Don Cotton League has openings

Anyone who is looking to join the Don Cotton Tuesday Night Golf League at the Vineyards Golf Course (back nine) please call the clubhouse at 672-7888.

Fredonia basketball camps announced

The Fredonia Central School Girls Basketball Camp will be held June 27-29 at the Fredonia High School and Middle School gymnasiums from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The Fredonia Central School Boys Basketball Camp will be held July 1-3 at the Fredonia High School and Middle School gymnasiums from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Due to the construction project at the main campus, each camp will be for three days this year, instead of four days like years past.

Cost for each camp is $80 at the door, or $70 if paid by June 15. The camp is open to boys and girls entering grades 3 through 12. All campers will receive a camp t-shirt.

Each athlete is expected to arrive by 9 a.m. and are expected to bring their own lunch.
