Mary’s Deli vs. Can Kings

Jenna Fryberger led Mary’s Deli with an all-around great game, including four hits and several good defensive plays. Bryleigh Wicks added four hits, while Alanna Marvin contributed with three of her own. Can Kings was led by Delany Artrip with three hits. Peyton Wallace, McKella Hodkin, Brooklyn Smith, Adalyn Stellracht and Josie Swanson all added two hits each.

10U Metro League Softball

Fredonia Fury 22, Clarence Red Devils 10

Anna Delcamp led the Fury with a three-run home run and a single. Reece Schuster added a triple and two singles, while Callie Draggett hit two singles. Josie Miller and McKenna Crawford also had base knocks. Naomi and Ava Muck split pitching duties for the Fury victory.

Fredonia Fury 11, Clarence Red Devils 7

The Fury improved to 7-1 and remained in first place, led by Callie Draggett’s second home run of the season and Jillian Miller’s three hits, which included a double. Anna Delcamp earned the complete-game victory and helped her cause with a single and a double. Reece Schuster, McKenna Crawford and Jenna Fryberger all added two hits each. Josie Miller added a single for the Fury.

Free Dunkirk H.S. sports physicals on June 27

The Dunkirk High School Athletic Department announces the date of Thursday, June 27 for free mandatory sports physicals at the DHS nurse’s office, starting at 8:30 a.m. All athletes are encouraged to attend. The free physical will be good for the whole school year, beginning in September. Parents can go online to the school website or stop by the school to pick up the required physical form prior to June 27.

All athletes need an updated physical prior to playing a fall sport, which begin Aug. 19. Any questions, call the DHS athletic office at ext. 2083.

Kiwanis Club Charity Golf Tourney set for June 28

On Friday, June 28, the Silver Creek Kiwanis Club is seeking participants for its 24th Annual Charity Golf Tournament. It will be held at Tri-County Country Club in Forestville. The day will include a continental breakfast, golf, lunch, appetizers and prizes. Check in is from 7:45 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8:45 a.m., rain or shine. The format is a four-man scramble.

The Kiwanis Club supports children in the communities of Silver Creek, Forestville, Sheridan, Irving and the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation. Their work is funded solely through fundraisers and contributions. It is the goal of this club to continue to have a meaningful impact on our community’s children.

Entry fee is $110 ($95 if paid by June 21). Deadline to register is June 26. Numerous sponsorships, tee signage and raffle opportunities exist. Email your questions or interest to Gailmiller3@aol.com.

Vineyards Junior Golf Program Tuesdays in July

The Vineyards Junior Golf Program with Greg Catalono will be on Tuesdays in July, beginning July 2, through July 30, with one date on Friday, July 5. The cost is $75 for the five lessons and one tournament date. The time will be 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. If you wish to sign up or have questions, please call 672-7888 and ask for Jason.

Gowanda 16U softball tourney set for July 27

Gowanda Recreation will hold their annual 16U girls fast pitch softball tournament on Saturday, July 27 at Gateway Park. This is a four-team, round tournament with each team guaranteed three games. Awards and prizes for each team that participates. Entry fee is $65. Call Recreation Director Mark Benton at 532-4053 or email hidibenton@gmail.com to register a team.
