Men’s Senior League

Pro-Bats Yankees 12, Silver Creek Braves 1

The Yankees scored three runs in the first, four in the fourth and three in the sixth to cruise to victory over the newly clad Braves (1-4). The timeless Rich Hofer (three hits, three RBI) led the Yankee attack, while brothers Evan Carmello (two hits, two RBI, two runs) and Brent Carmello (two hits, two runs, RBI) and Justyn Vara (two hits, RBI) aided the cause. Vara (3-0) pitched six innings for the victory, allowing five hits, striking out eight Braves batters, and walking one. Papa Allan Carmello pitched perfect ball in the seventh. For the Braves, Travis Small (two hits, RBI) was the main offense, while Zach Klisewicz scored the lone run. Cody Wicks, Reid Bland and Greg Kruszka shared mound duties in the loss. The trio allowed 13 hits, walking seven and striking out one Yankee.

Pro-Bats Yankees 10, Kosciuszko Club Phillies 5

The Yankees (6-1) cashed in with five runs in the bottom of the sixth to break a 5-5 tie and defeat the Phillies (2-5). The Yankees’ Austin Alonge (two hits, two RBI, run), Dennis Gawronski (two hits, RBI, run), Evan Carmello (double, two RBI, run) and Joe Pantano (two runs) were key hitters in the big inning. Jason Howard (two hits, two RBI, two runs) was perfect at the dish. Alonge relieved an injured Matt Eaker on the mound for the Yankees in the third inning for the victory. The pair displayed pinpoint control, walking none and striking out six. For the Phillies, Yankee nemesis Mark Zinni had two hits and two runs scored, while Bryan Watts (two hits, RBI, run) and Brett Dehner (two hits, run) were the other big bats for the “Dog House.” Gannon Jackson and Marquel Ruiz shared mound duties in the loss, striking out three and walking seven Yankee batters.

Girls4Golf Tuesday Night Ladies League (July 2) — Tuesday, the Girls4Golf played at Tri-County Country Club. The game of alternate shots was won by partners Patti Hoagland and Diana Carpus with a 46, followed by Priscilla Penfold and Donna Merritt with a 57.

Gowanda’s Bee Fit Boot Camp registration open

GOWANDA — Get up, get out and get healthy at Bee Fit Boot Camp at Hillis Field on North Water Street in the village this summer. This series of evening outdoor group workouts, facilitated by the Community Education division of the Gowanda Central School District, is designed to fill your Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays with a perfect blend of fun and fitness.

Brittney Olszewski will instruct you and fellow participants inspire you while innovative exercises transform you on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. starting July 8 and ending Aug. 21, 2019. (Dates: July 8, 10, 12, 15, 17, 19, 22, 24, 26, 29, 31; Aug. 2, 5, 7, 9, 12, 14, 16, 19, 21.)

Class fee is $5 per session or $65 for all 20 sessions; $50 for 14 sessions or $30 for 7 sessions. Make checks payable to Gowanda Central School. Black Knight Hall of Fame golf tourney July 8

Silver Creek is hosting the Black Knight Hall of Fame golf tournament at Tri-County Country Club, in Forestville. The event is scheduled for Monday, July 8, beginning at 11 a.m. The cost is $80 for non-members or $60 for members. To register, contact Sean Helmer at (716) 572-3634.

Fredonia Midget Football registration July 9

On July 9, at the Fredonia baseball complex on 42 Clinton Ave. from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., the Fredonia Football Midget League will hold registrations for football and cheerleading. Participants must be 8 years of age by Aug. 1 and no older than 13 years of age. Registration fee is $70 for the first participant and $30 for any participant in the same household thereafter.

Kickball tourney set July 21 for medical research

SILVER CREEK — The public is encouraged to participate in the 5th annual One Small Kick for Prader-Willi Syndrome kickball tournament scheduled Sunday, July 21, on the campus of the Silver Creek Central School District, 1 Dickinson St.

Prader-Willi is a rare and incurable genetic disorder characterized by intellectual disabilities and behavior problems, among numerous other symptoms. Tournament proceeds will support One Small Step for Prader-Willi Syndrome and international walks/events benefitting The Foundation for Prader-Willi Research.

The cost to register is $200 for teams of 8 to 12 players or $20 per player if signing up as an individual. Sign-ins start at 9 a.m. with games at 10 a.m. and an awards presentation at 12:30 p.m.

Gym Rats Basketball Camp set for July 22-26

The Fredonia boys basketball program will be hosting its seventh annual ‘Gym Rats Basketball Camp’ this July at the Wheelock Primary School Gym. The camp is for boys and girls ages 4-9 and will be held the week of July 22-26. The camp runs from 9:30 a.m. to noon daily. Campers will participate in lead-up games, relay races, and a lot of passing, dribbling, ball handling and shooting. All campers get a free t-shirt, basketball and daily snack. The cost for the camp is $75 or $115 for two family members. If you register by June 15, The cost for camp is $65 per child, $100 for two family members, or $150 for three or more family members.
