Wednesday Travel League

Robert Calph shot a career-best 74 at Scenic Heights in Wattsburg, PA to capture his 30th career tour victory. Al Etzel was second with 76, Matt Kessler was third with 78 and Doug Grace was fourth with 79. Calph led the front nine with a 2-under par 34, while Etzel led the back nine with 37. In the B Flight, Dave Criscione won on a tiebreaker over Bob Thompson. Tim Sirigusa, from Houston, Texas, was the C Flight Champion. The winner of the Bruce “Java” Chrabasz Commissioner’s Award was Dan Kaszuba, on a tiebreaker over Tom Destro.

Untied birdies were recorded by: A Flight — Kessler (No. 3), Calph (No. 4), Domenico Lamattina (No. 6), Grace (No. 14) and Mike Wolfe (No. 18); B Flight — Lenny Leszkowicz (No. 1), Don Kujawa (Nos. 3, 6), Mike Willoughby (No. 7), Ken Kaus (No. 12) and Wayne Ormsby (No. 18); C Flight — Dave Franklin (No. 1), Kaszuba (Nos. 2, 8), Sirigusa (No. 7), Pat Weaver (No. 9) and Jack Hood (No. 12). Closest to the pin were Leszkowicz (No. 1), Ormsby (No. 3), Grace (No. 14) and Kessler (No. 18).

This week the league travels to North Hills in Corry, PA. The first tee time is at 9:15 a.m. Golfers must be signed up with John(785-2291) by noon on Monday.

Lula Roe defeated BCW, 10-2.

Charlee McKay led Lula Roe with seven goals, with assists from Grayson Gilbert and Evelyn Gilbert. Grayson Gilbert, Evan Mierzwa and Darius Abram each with one goal. Scoring for BCW was Koltyn Hitchcock, with both of the team’s goals.

Robo Enterprise beat Mom & Pops Recycling, 8-0.

Brody Beichner led Robo Enterprise with four goals, while Brayden Beichner, Jay Martin and Collin Armstrong each had one goal. Goalies for Robo Enterprise in the shutout were Kayden Banse-Fay, Breanna Degolier, Collin Armstrong and Camden Biscup.

Homestead Stables defeated KCR, 8-3.

Logan Simpson led Homestead with six goals, while Donald Easton had two goals. Scoring for KCR was Caden Lacki, Hunter Edson and Simon Lawson each with one goal.

Shur Fine shut out Jamestown McAdam, 1-0.

Scoring for Shur Fine was Kaliann Welka.

Gerry Free Methodist topped Mayshark Builders, 2-0.

Scoring for GFMC was Connor Main and Mason Hinton, with an assist by Nevaeh Hebner. Goalies in the shutout were Cathryn Russell and Nevaeh Hebner.

Barney’s Hoof Trimming beat Southern

Chautauqua FCU, 3-2.

Scoring for Barney’s was Lilleean Meacham with two goals (with an assist from Jackson Crowell) and Jakob Huling with a goal assisted by Jackson Crowell. Scoring for Southern Chautauqua FCU was Faith McVey, assisted by Ethan Testa and Alex Serrano, assisted Faith McVey.

MK mustangs beat Park Church, 6-0.

Leading the scoring for MK was Braeden Singular with four goals, with an assist from Jared Dorman. Cameron Katilus and Jacob Ansell each added one goal. Goalies in the shutout were Maxwell Comstock and Nathan Case.

Bethany Camp won over Southern Tier

Land Surveying, 3-2.

Scoring for Bethany Camp was Steven Biggers with two goals and Hannah McChesney with one goal and an assist. Scoring for Southern Tier Land Surveying was Alex Reynolds and Taylor Pascoe, each with one goal, with assist by Emiley Anderson.

DHS, CMHS, FHS Alumni Golf Tourney Aug. 2

The 10th annual Alumni Tournament is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 2 at Shorewood Country Club in Dunkirk. The event will feature graduates from Dunkirk High School, Cardinal Mindszenty High School and Fredonia High School. The 2019 youth orgainazational recipients include the Dunkirk-Fredonia Little League and girls softball programs. Honorary starters of the event will be Dunkirk Mayor Willie Rosas and Jack Shubert, Shorewood “Pro Emeritus.”

Registration the morning of the event begins at 8:30 a.m., located in the “Grove” next to the Pro-Shop. The attendees will pose for a group photo at 9:54 a.m., then will begin the event in a shotgun start, scramble format, beginning at 10 a.m. There will be a $500 Hole-in-one Contest, sponsored by Mary Asher in memory of Tom Asher.

The cost of the event is $80, which includes golf, cart, coffee, dinner buffet and dessert. There is also a free Sahlen hot dog on the Par 3, Hole No. 6 — the Hole-in-one Contest hole. A cash bar is open at 3 p.m. and dinner will be at 4:30 p.m. Trophy presentation and door prizes, along with a silen auction, will be following dinner.

Black Knight Hall of Fame golf tourney Monday

Silver Creek is hosting the Black Knight Hall of Fame golf tournament at Tri-County Country Club, in Forestville. The event is scheduled for Monday, July 8, beginning at 11 a.m. The cost is $80 for non-members or $60 for members. To register, contact Sean Helmer at (716) 572-3634.

Fredonia Midget Football registration Tuesday

On Tuesday, July 9, at the Fredonia baseball complex on 42 Clinton ave from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., the Fredonia Football Midget League will hold registrations for football and cheerleading. Participants must be 8 years of age by Aug. 1 and no older than 13 years of age. Registration fee is $70 for the first participant and $30 for any participant in the same household thereafter.
