Tuesday Night Utility League — In play this week Matt Hutchison rang up the only skin along with being closest to hole on the Vineyards Golf Course north side No. 5.

Mike Kurtz had the low round with a 40, edging Chris Kowaleski for honors by one stroke. Keith Medley and Zeke Curtin were next with 43s.

Grilled food and strawberry shortcake were enjoyed by the players after golf with a special thanks to the cooks and cleanup crew.

Wednesday Night Ladies League — After a slow start, rounds finally got underway on June 12. Round 1 had Laurie Kozlowski shoot the lowest gross and net score with a 43. The low team net score went to Charity Mucha and Carroll Nalepa with 95. Round 2 low gross score went to Charity Mucha with 47. The lowest net score was a 37 for both Mimi Smith and Mucha. The lowest team net score of 82 was played by Linda Kemp and Smith. Round 3 action saw Charity Mucha score the lowest gross score with 46. The low net score of 31 was played by Viki Clark. The lowest team net score was a 67 played by Clark and Vicki Westling.

Tri-County Country Club

The Girls4Golf Ladies League (July 9) — Low scores for the evening were Priscilla Penfold with a 55, Kim Murphy with a 57, Jane Ellman with a 58, and Nancy Phillips and Diana Carpus each carding a 59. The fairway game was won by Diana Carpus with 20 points followed by Priscilla Penfold with 16 and Sue Johnson with 15.

Fredonia Youth Football Camp starts July 22

The second annual Fredonia Youth Football Camp is scheduled for Monday, July 22 through Wednesday, July 24. It is a fundamental based skills camp that individualizes at all levels with safe, specialized instruction from all the FHS football coaching staff, as well as selected FHS players. Instructional times will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Orange Bowl field on West Main Street.

The camp is for kids ages 6 to 13 and all equipment is provided. The cost is $40 for the first family member, with additional siblings only $10. Participants will receive a Fredonia Camp T-shirt. Gowanda old timers softball game set for July 28

The third Annual Gowanda men’s slow pitch softball league old timers game and reunion (1974-1996) will be held at Gateway Park on Sunday, July 28. Batting practice will begin at 6 p.m., followed by a 9-inning game. Former league players over the age of 45 are encouraged to attend and play a few innings, if not the whole game. A team picnic will follow. Call Mark Benton at 532-4053 to make reservations.

Fredonia Little League fall registration next week

Registration for Fall Ball (both softball and wood bat baseball for children league age 8-12) will be held at the Fredonia Little League complex, 42 Clinton Ave., from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on both Monday, July 15 and Wednesday, July 17.

The season will be played on eight Sundays from Aug. 11 through Sept. 29. Registration is $40 per player. Registration forms will be available and can also be found on the league’s website: www.FredoniaLittleLeague.org.

New this year, the league is looking to pilot a shorter, machine-pitch league for players league age 7-9, if there is enough interest. Players must have already played in a machine-pitch league or have a coach recommendation from their coach-pitch league.

Kickball tourney set July 21 for medical research

SILVER CREEK — The public is encouraged to participate in the 5th annual One Small Kick for Prader-Willi Syndrome kickball tournament scheduled Sunday, July 21, on the campus of the Silver Creek Central School District, 1 Dickinson St.

Prader-Willi is a rare and incurable genetic disorder characterized by intellectual disabilities and behavior problems, among numerous other symptoms. Tournament proceeds will support One Small Step for Prader-Willi Syndrome and international walks/events benefitting The Foundation for Prader-Willi Research.

The cost to register is $200 for teams of 8 to 12 players or $20 per player if signing up as an individual. Sign-ins start at 9 a.m. with games at 10 a.m. and an awards presentation at 12:30 p.m.
