Men’s Senior Baseball League

Pro-Bats Yankees 17, Stuart Tool & Die Athletics 4

The Yankees (7-1) came out swinging and never looked back in their 17-4 drubbing of the depleted Athletics (5-3) in a game shortened to five innings. Joe Polichetti had a monster day at the plate, with a grand slam, a double, two runs scored and six RBI. Justyn Vara added two hits and scored two runs, while Brent Carmello and Joe Pantano scored three times each. Pub-Master Joe Coughlin went opposite field for his first RBI single of the year. Vara (4-0) was the winning pitcher, the beneficiary of the run support. Allan Carmello mopped up in the fifth inning, maintaining his unblemished season ERA in five-plus innings of work. The pair allowed eight hits and walked one. AARP veteran Jake McCune flashed the leather at second base.

The A’s were led by perennial all-stars Brian Gunnell and Brandon Shelters, both collecting two hits and two RBI. Team Owner Randy Stuart, Manager Bob Bankoski, Dan Williamson and Curt Jones had the other hits in the loss.
