Monday Night Vineyards Utility Golf League

Monday Night was the final round for the 2019 season. We held the championship round at the 18 Hole Vineyards Golf Course and then had a delicious Strip Steak Dinner with all the trimmings at Mannings Fireside Restaurant. Lets hope for a very short winter so we can begin the 2020 season in May.

Tuesday Night Utility League

The Tuesday Night Utility League wrapped up play for the season with a two-man scramble format on the Vineyards Golf Course front nine. Low score under wet conditions was 37, carded by three teams: Chris Kowaleski and George Allessi; Bob Patterson and Mike Willoughby; and Ron Kirkby and Mike Kurtz. Skins were won on No. 1 by Kirkby and Kurtz, on No. 3 by Pat Deering and Jerry Dziduch and on No. 5 by Duane Gilbert and Keith Medley. Closest to the pin winners on the par threes were Allessi on No. 5 and Patterson on No. 9. Season standings ended with the team of Kirkby and Kurtz in first place; Ron Marsh and Lee Szalkowski in second; Allessi and Kowaleski in a third-place tie with Jerry Reilly and Gib Snyder; Deering and Dziduch in fifth and Joe Polichetti and Bob Kryzanowicz taking sixth place. A full steak dinner, including peach cobbler for dessert, was enjoyed by 26 league members.

Women’s League

Aug. 28–Scores: Cindy Chimera 46, Mary Bartkowski 46. Closest to the Pin: DeDe DuBois. Skins: Dory Johnson and Donna Frost.

Super Duper 20, Good Guys 12

A rematch of the 2018 Championship game, Super Duper’s Tanis Moore had a game changing pick that lead to QB Marcus Feagin scoring a late TD to clinch the win. Good Guys QB Mike Donaldson kept the going back and forth with a long touchdown pass.

Elevation 19, GMB 12

Last year’s MVP Alton Ingrahm lead the way for Elevation, finding the endzone twice. GMB’s Deon Stanford was the standout on defense with a key interception.

Lucky Lanes Junior Bowling begins Sept. 21

Registration for the 2019-2020 season will be held on Sept. 7, Sept. 8, Sept. 14 and Sept. 15 at Lucky Lanes at 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. each of those days. You may also register on evenings of Sept. 10, Sept. 11, and Sept. 12 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. All new and returning bowlers must register. The registration fee is $10.00. Youth bowler ages range from 4 to 20 years old as of Aug. 1. Teams may be all boys, all girls, or mixed. Teams will consist of 4 bowlers. Leagues will start on September 21. All bowlers from age 6 to 20 will have their choice of bowling at either the 10 a.m. or the 1 p.m. shift each Saturday. Bowlers of ages 4 and 5 will participate in the Bumper Buddies league, which bowls at 1:15 p.m. on Saturdays. Bumper Buddies will be teams of two. Fifth annual Community Hockey Game Sept. 6

On Friday, Sept. 6 at 7 p.m., Community Through Hockey will hold it’s fifth annual Community Hockey Game at the Northwest Arena in Jamestown. This year’s game will benefit 21-month old Luca Carlson from Falconer, who was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome or an undeveloped heart. Admission is free and will feature a basket raffle, large item raffle and 50/50. Since 2015, over $22,000 has been raised for area families and organizations. The community is urged to come out and help make this year’s event the best one yet. Check out “Community Through Hockey” on Facebook for more information.

Dunkirk swim programs start Sept. 9

Dunkirk High School Pool is proud to announce our Fall 2019 swim program as follows. Please be aware that if the Dunkirk Schools are closed, or evening activities canceled because of weather, our pool programming on that day is canceled as well.

Morning Lap Swim:

Mondays and Wednesdays from September 9 through December 18, Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30 a.m. (no session 10/14, 11/11, 11/27). No pre-registration needed, $2 per class.

Aquasize:

Mondays and Wednesdays from September 9 through December 18, 6:30-7:30 p.m. (no session 10/14, 11/11, 11/27). No pre-registration needed, $4 per class.

Evening Lap Swim:

Tuesdays and Thursdays from September 10 through December 19, 6:30-7:30 p.m.(no session on 11/28). No pre-registration needed, $2 per class.

Deep Water Aquasize:

Tuesdays and Thursdays from September 10 through December 19, 6:30-7:30 p.m.(no session on 11/28). No pre-registration needed, $4 per class.

Family Open Swim:

Sept. 14 – Dec. 14, 1-2 p.m.

Saturdays from September 14 through December 14, from 1-2 p.m. (no session on 11/30). Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Limited to 60 swimmers, $2 per person. No food or drink allowed in the pool, balcony or locker room area. Outside pool toys, athletic equipment, balls, noodles are prohibited.

Al Tech Reunion Golf Tourney set for Sept. 21

Plans are being made for the Al Tech Reunion Golf Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 21, at Cable Hollow Golf Course. The cost is $60, which includes 18 holes with cart at Cable Hollow Golf Course, food at the turn, and dinner at Russell Joy Park Pavilion provided by Super Duper catering. There will be a separate fee of $5 for skins and closest to the pins, payable at the course. Send check payable to Rick Bellando, 24 Westerly Dr. Fredonia, NY 14063, no later than Saturday, Sept. 7.
