Wednesday Travel League

Ed Tofil shot a new league record 77 at Terry Hills (On the South and East Courses) in Batavia. Tofil broke the old record of 78, held by Kerry Murphy. Matt Kessler was second with 79 and Mike Wolfe was third with 80. Tofil led the front nine with 38 while Tofil and Wolfe led the back nine with 39. Dennis Gawronski Sr. edged Bob Thompson and Dave Franklin on a tiebreaker to win the B Flight. The winner of the Bruce “Java” Chrabasz Commissioner’s Award was Paul Daley.

Frame Memorial Bowling League meets Tuesday

Frame Memorial Tuesday Night Bowling League will hold an organizational meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 3 at 7 p.m. at Lucky Lanes on Bennett Road. Fifth annual Community Hockey Game Sept. 6

On Friday, Sept. 6 at 7 p.m., Community Through Hockey will hold it’s fifth annual Community Hockey Game at the Northwest Arena in Jamestown. This year’s game will benefit 21-month old Luca Carlson from Falconer, who was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome or an undeveloped heart. Admission is free and will feature a basket raffle, large item raffle and 50/50. Since 2015, over $22,000 has been raised for area families and organizations. programs start Sept. 9

Dunkirk High School Pool is proud to announce our Fall 2019 swim program as follows. Please be aware that if the Dunkirk Schools are closed, or evening activities canceled because of weather, our pool programming on that day is canceled as well.

Morning Lap Swim:

Mondays and Wednesdays from September 9 through December 18, Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30 a.m. (no session 10/14, 11/11, 11/27). No pre-registration needed, $2 per class.

Aquasize:

Mondays and Wednesdays from September 9 through December 18, 6:30-7:30 p.m. (no session 10/14, 11/11, 11/27). No pre-registration needed, $4 per class.

Evening Lap Swim:

Tuesdays and Thursdays from September 10 through December 19, 6:30-7:30 p.m.(no session on 11/28). No pre-registration needed, $2 per class.

Deep Water Aquasize:

Tuesdays and Thursdays from September 10 through December 19, 6:30-7:30 p.m.(no session on 11/28). No pre-registration needed, $4 per class.

Family Open Swim:

Sept. 14 – Dec. 14, 1-2 p.m.

Saturdays from September 14 through December 14, from 1-2 p.m. (no session on 11/30). Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Limited to 60 swimmers, $2 per person. No food or drink allowed in the pool, balcony or locker room area. Outside pool toys, athletic equipment, balls, noodles are prohibited.

Jamestown Knights baseball tryouts Sept. 15, 29

The Jamestown Knights will be holding 2020 spring/summer travel baseball tryouts open to all players ages 8-12 (as of April 30, 2020) in the Chautauqua County area.

Players born on April 30 or earlier will be considered one year older than players born May 1 or later. The Knights program teaches and instills a love for the game that exhibits the best of what the players can be. Knights players, coaches and organization strive to continuously improve in all aspects of the game with the goal of building the ultimate baseball and experience.

The Knights program includes team gear, including uniforms, helmets and bat bags, as part of the camp fee. Tryouts will be held on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 9:30 a.m. at Bergman park as well as on Sunday, Sept. 29 at 9:30 a.m. at Bergman Park. Al Tech Reunion Golf Tourney set for Sept. 21

Plans are being made for the Al Tech Reunion Golf Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 21, at Cable Hollow Golf Course. The cost is $60, which includes 18 holes with cart at Cable Hollow Golf Course, food at the turn, and dinner at Russell Joy Park Pavilion provided by Super Duper catering. There will be a separate fee of $5 for skins and closest to the pins, payable at the course. Send check payable to Rick Bellando, 24 Westerly Dr. Fredonia, NY 14063, no later than Saturday, Sept. 7.

The first group tees off at 10 a.m., with registration at 9:30 a.m. Foursomes are as follows: Group No. 1: Rick Bellando, Gene Bellando, Brian Riley, Tom Keller.
