Circuit Training registration underway in Gowanda

The Adult Education division of Gowanda Central School District is pleased to announce a Circuit Training class will be held Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. in the weight room at Gowanda High School.

Circuit training is a great boredom buster where you move quickly from one exercise to the next so your mind doesn’t have time to wander or tune out.

The course kicks off Tuesday, Sept. 24 and runs through Saturday, Dec. 21, 2019, with instructor Steve Maines, a certified physical education teacher.

Fee options: Three times per week is 37 classes for $105. Twice per week is 25 classes for $75. Once per week is 13 classes for $45. Or pay as you go for $5 per class.

Commit to be fit with Zumba at Gowanda

GOWANDA — Registration is underway for Zumba, a fitness offering via the Adult Education division of the Gowanda Central School District.

This high-energy, fun cardio dance workout with instructor Erin Ranic will be held Wednesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the gym at Gowanda Elementary School on Aldrich Street. Workouts kick off Sept. 25 and end Dec. 18, 2019.

The fee is $45 for all 12 sessions or pay as you go for $5 per class.

Vineyards Chicken BBQ set for Saturday

The Vineyards Golf Course is having a Customer Appreciation Chicken BBQ on Saturday, Sept. 21, with dinner from 4-6 p.m. by Weidner Chicken BBQ and music from Cosmic Cowboys from 4-7 p.m. Dinner tickets are $10 for guests and members are asked to stop at the clubhouse for details.

The Vineyards Golf Course is also accepting memberships for the 2020 season at this time. Sign up before Oct. 1 for savings on your membership. If you are interested in joining or starting a league, please contact Jason at the clubhouse at 672-7888.

Al Tech Reunion Golf Tourney is on Saturday

The Al Tech Reunion Golf Tournament is on Saturday, Sept. 21 at Cable Hollow Golf Course. The cost is $60, which includes 18 holes with cart at Cable Hollow Golf Course food at the turn. Dinner at Russell Joy Park Pavilion will be provided by Super Duper catering. There will be a separate fee of $5 for skins and closest to the pin’s payable at the course. Send check payable to Rick Bellando, 24 Westerly Dr. Fredonia, NY 14063 no later than Saturday Sept. 14. The first group tees off at 10 a.m. Registration is 9:30 a.m.

Southern Tier Regulators baseball clinic Sept. 28

The Southern Tier Regulators will be hosting a youth clinic at the Fredonia Little League Fields on Clinton Street in Fredonia. The clinic is Saturday, Sept. 28 from 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. for interested players ages 5-12, from all the surrounding area. Players can pre-register or sign up the day of clinic starting at 9 a.m.

The cost is $20 per player. The clinic will have instruction in fielding, throwing accuracy, base running as well as hitting drills. There will also be competitions, as well as possible game play. Registration open for Oct. 12 Fred Ruterbusch Run & Walk

Registration is open for the 2019 Fred Ruterbusch Memorial 5k Run & Walk, to be held Saturday, Oct. 12 starting at 10 a.m. on a campus road course at SUNY Fredonia.

The online pre-registration link is at fredoniabluedevils.com. Pre-registration is $20. There will also be on-site registration starting at 9 a.m. the morning of the race. The cost will be $25. Registration for all Fredonia State students is $5.

All proceeds will benefit the Fredonia State cross country and track and field teams.

Awards will be made to the overall male and female finishers to the top three runners in the following age brackets: 14 & under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, and 80 & up.

In addition to the age-bracket awards, a Kids’ Day is planned — activities in Steele Hall Fieldhouse supervised by track and field team members — and a Kids Run following the 5k.

Track and field officials desired, meeting Nov. 6

Men or women who would like to become certified New York state track and field officials are desired. The required meetings will start on Wednesday, Nov. 6.
