Dunkirk spring sports sign-ups underway

Spring sport sign-ups are now taking place at Dunkirk High School during physical education classes. Students should sign up and receive a blue health history card. The blue card needs to be returned immediately to the nurse. The sports being offered are: baseball, softball, track, tennis and golf. With any questions, call Coach Mike Sarratori in the athletic office at ext. 2083.

The Relief Zone Annual 3-on-3 basketball

tournament cancelled

The Relief Zone (TRZ) fundraising committee has announced that due to not enough registrations the 3-on-3 basketball tournament has been cancelled this year. TRZ apologizes for the inconvenience and hope next year to receive more registrations.

USSF soccer referee rourse set for March 7

There will be a USSF entry level soccer referee course held Saturday, March 7 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Frewsburg SC Training Center, located at 31 Hughes Ave., Jamestown.

With this certification, new referees will be able to officiate nearly any level in any league available in the Southern Tier. The course consists of five hours of online training, followed by eight hours of classroom/field training. The cost is $75 for the class and includes state and national dues.

This class is for anyone at least 13 years old at the time of registration. It’s a hands-on class which provides an insightful way to look at the game.

Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame banquet sold out

Chip Johnson, chairman, has announced that the Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame’s 39th annual Induction Dinner, scheduled for Monday, February 17th, at Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, is sold out.

The inductees of the class of 2020 are George Bataitis, Bob Bender, Bob Goold, Christine (Carlson) Jenkins, Justin Johnson, Tim Nobles, Elly Norton, Mark Orlando and Mike Tramuta.

Also honored at the banquet will be nearly 50 high school, collegiate and community athletes. In addition, CSHOF Legacy Awards will be presented to 17 deserving individuals.

Fredonia State to host youth baseball clinics

The SUNY Fredonia baseball team will host a pair of clinics for youths ages 6 to 12. A Hitting and Defense Clinic is Sunday, Feb. 16. A Pitching, Catching and Hitting clinic takes place on Sunday, Feb. 23. Both clinics run from 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Cost is $30 for one, or $50 to attend both. If siblings attend, the cost is $20 per clinic per child. NCSA/Concord FC seeks 19U boys players

Concord FC is looking for soccer players interested in joining a 19U boys team. The 19U team is comprised of 19U age players with a year of birth of 2001 and 18U age players with a year of birth of 2002. Concord FC plays in the Buffalo and Western New York Junior Soccer League, with the games beginning May 29 and ending first week of August. 19U plays Wednesday nights at 6:45 p.m. Their home field is the State University at Fredonia’s Turf Field. NCCYHA Steelers Modified Team seeks players

The NCCYHA Steelers organization is seeking current 7th and 8th grade students living in Northern Chautauqua County who are interested in playing modified hockey. Tryouts to occur the first week of March, with the season running into June. Cost varies based on number of players and should fall between $350 to $500.
