Pine Valley upends West Valley in East 2 girls action

SOUTH DAYTON – The Pine Valley Lady Panthers (11-8, 8-2) were able to cap off their regular season on a winning note as they took down the West Valley Lady Wild Cats, 53-25, Saturday afternoon in CCAA East 2 girls basketball action.

Jamie Wilcox led the way with 13 points as the Lady Panthers outscored their opponent in all four quarters.

Defense was the key to the victory, as the Lady Panthers were able to hold the Lady Wild Cats to under 10 points in each of the four quarters.

The game marked the 10th win in a row for Pine Valley, as it climbed back from a 1-8 start.

“I’m happy we ended the season with all wins,” Pine Valley head coach Bryelle Cortright said. “I’m excited for playoffs.”

Kaleigh Brunswick led the defensive attack contributing seven steals while Jessica Wilcox had six and Alex Bentham and Kate Hoth each had five for the winners.

Cameron McLeod was the leading scorer with 11 points for the Lady Wild Cats.
