The Fredonia Lady Hillbillies (2-1, 1-0) had three players score in double digits Monday in an impressive 65-17 victory over Maple Grove (3-2, 0-2) in CCAA West 1 girls high school basketball.

Hannah Cybart led the charge with 17 points while Caitlyn Cybart had 12 points and 10 rebounds. Katie Price contributed in the win with 11 points, seven steals and five rebounds. Gracie Morrison added 12 rebounds in the win.

“We had eight different players score,” Fredonia coach Carol Zirkle said. “We did a nice job of pressuring and converting (our defensive) press into buckets. I was happy with the ball movement. We played with a lot of intensity. I was really pleased with our effort. A lot of players did great things. Gracie Morrison had 12 rebounds in her third varsity game, and that’s huge. We ran the floor well. We did a lot of things well.”

Fredonia jumped out to a 20-4 lead after the first quarter, and essentially put the game away by halftime with a 35-10 cushion. The Lady Hillbillies went on to outscore Maple Grove, 30-7, in the second half.

Riley Caskey scored five points for the Lady Red Dragons while Kaylee McCall and Caleigh Swanson combined for 13 rebounds.

“Maple Grove worked hard and hustled,” Zirkle said. “They are aggressive.”

Fredonia returns to action Thursday at Falconer.
