Dunkirk girls finish season 40-0, Fredonia secures lead on Division crown

The Dunkirk Lady Marauders finished the regular season with a perfect 40-0 record thanks to a 4-0 victory over the Fredonia Lady Hillbillies (18-18) on Senior Night at Lucky Lanes.
Dunkirk’s linescore read 856-781-765-2,402 compared to Fredonia’s 623-699-726-2,048.
Adrianna Pencek led the Lady Marauders with a 195-181-134-510 while Makayla Pasierb cracked a 154-154-182-490. Olivia Corbett contributed in the win with a 192-146-144-482 and Mariah Glowniak had a 153-167-144-464. Hannah Ellman charted a 162 game and Whitney Hice had a 161 game for the winners.
“I am extremely proud of these ladies’ accomplishments,” Dunkirk coach Donna Kubera said. “It is very hard to finish a season undefeated. My girls showed great composure all season long. Senior Adrianna Pencek was a strong leader of our young team throughout the season. I am looking forward to a strong showing at Sectionals from these ladies.”

The Lady Hillbillies received a 158-172-187-517 from Marissa Bonafede while Gillian Reed had a 165-174-163-502. Elizabeth Bumpus rolled a 142-150 and Alexandria Vazquez recorded a 141-123-141-405.
Meanwhile, first place was on the line in the boys’ match, as Fredonia (31-5) took the 4-0 sweep of the Marauders (32-8).
The Hillbillies bowl against Chautauqua Lake today, and once that match is over, they will officially be crowned Division champions.
Fredonia combined for a 934-953-956-2,843 while Dunkirk bowled a 902-842-955-2,699.
Ricky Burgstrom led the Hillbillies with a 183-220-191-594 while Trace Mackenzie did his part with a 195-199-192-586. Andrew Conti contributed in the win with a 204-171-200-575 and Bryson Pacos had a 187-195-175-557. Travis Langworthy recorded a 165-168-198-531 for the winners.

Tristan Skelly was Dunkirk’s top bowler with a 182-186- 254-622 while Johnathon Collins charted a 168-159-224-551. Jared Glowniak had a strong showing with a 210-177-154-541 and John Loveland bowled a 177-166-176-519 in a losing effort.
Dunkirk’s next outing will be at the County Roll-Offs.
Silver Creek sweeps Clymer/Sherman
The Silver Creek Black Knights bowling team earned a double sweep Monday, defeating Clymer/Sherman 4-0 in both the boys and girls matches at Hanover Lanes.
For the girls, Silver Creek (17-15) posted a linescore of 539-540-447-1,526 to Clymer/Sherman’s (1-27) 467-418-420-1,305. Entering the match, the Black Knights girls needed three wins to qualify for Sectionals, a task they completed with the sweep.

Leading Silver Creek’s girls was Andrea Olsen’s 176-165-137-478 series. McKenna Steklasa added a 140 game and 386 series while Gabriella Rivera added high games of 138 and 133 for a 367 series.
Clymer’s Megan VanVaulkenburg rolled a 132 game and 366 series with Kamryn Ruttler adding a 338 series.
On the boys side, Silver Creek (15-25) again took all four with a linescore of 693-715-706-2,114 while Clymer/Sherman (4-32) scored 508-590-591-1,689.
Daniel Paterson led the Black Knights with a 204-182-519. Cory Paterson rolled a 181-158-497 while Bryan Berek posted a 185-149-478 series.
Clymer/Sherman’s Sam Ganzemi rolled a high game of 170 as Heath Reed finished with a 150 game and 388 series.
