Gowanda’s Matt Kruszka earns All-Western NY honors

The All-Western New York baseball team has been announced for the 2017 season and Gowanda’s Matt Kruszka earned First Team honors from the infield. Silver Creek catcher, Sam Mullen, and North Collins infielder, Brandon Zielinski, both made the All-Western New York Second Team.
The First-Team roster is as follows: Kruszka (Gowanda), Tom Bednarski (Alden), Collin Reformat (Lancaster), Mike Flemming (Maryvale), Dennis Gagliardo (St. Joe’s), John Bender (Wilson) Ben Damiani (Lancaster), Josh Surowiec (Williamsville North), Garrett Boldt (Olean), Leugim Castillo (Lancaster), Benny Serrano (Kenmore West) and Cole Hollins (Orchard Park).
The Second-Team roster consists of: Mullen (Silver Creek), Zielinski (North Collins), Nick Ciraolo (Clarence), Max Giordino (Lancaster), Dominic Germano (Kenmore East), Cole O’Connor (St. Francis), Mike Steffan (Williamsville East), Dawson Bailey (Lewiston Porter), Will Carlone (St. Joe’s), Noah Mouton (Tonawanda) and Austin Meenaghan (Starpoint).
Castillo (Lancaster) and Surowiec (Williamsville North) were named Players of the Year.
Receiving honorable mentions from Fredonia were Ryan Mroczka, Seth Schrader and Reid Tarnowski. Chris Williams (Silver Creek) and Max Bates (Westfield) also received honorable mentions.
