Fredonia tennis team upends Maple Grove

BEMUS POINT– The Fredonia High School boys’ tennis team played, and won, its first match of the season at Maple Grove (1-2) on Monday. According to Fredonia coach Lisa Johnston, it was only the second time the FHS team has done an activity outside this season due to the poor weather.

Neil Gens of Fredonia defeated Chase Boardman in first singles, 6-2, 6-0. In second singles, Maple Grove’s Porter deMink beat Fredonia’s Augusto Rodriguez, 6-4, 6-2. The third singles match went to Dan Gifford of Fredonia, who topped Reid Wright, 6-0, 6-3.

Ben Cresanti and Wyatt Chriest of Maple Grove won the first doubles match over Josh Thompson and Jimmy Rush, 6-2, 2-6, 6-4. Fredonia’s Trevor Napoli and Caleb Reynolds were victorious in second doubles over Kample Howard and Lawton Tranum, 6-4, 2-6, 6-3.
