Frewsburg baseball tops PV

FREWSBURG — Aaron Hair shined on the mound and Frewsburg used a six-run third inning to pull away from Pine Valley in a 10-3 CCAA Division 2 East victory Friday afternoon.

Hair threw five innings of two-hit ball, striking out 10 while walking three and hitting two batters for the Bears (3-0, 1-0).

Tim Wright was hit by a pitch to open the bottom of the third before Nolan Brink and Reid Bjork walked with one out. Wright then scored on a wild pitch before Hair’s walk. Brink scored on Trent Gray’s groundout, Mark Mammoser walked to load the bases and Nick Marsh followed with a two-run single. Mammoser then scored on a Ryan Schrecengost infield single before Marsh scored on a double steal with Schrecengost.

Bjork went 2 for 3 with a pair of doubles and three RBIs while Marsh was also 2 for 3 with three RBIs in the win.

Kevin Hunt, Stephen Crisanti, Nick Gage and Brody Sercu each singled for the Panthers (1-1, 0-1) while Corey Ellis took the loss with 2 2/3 innings of four-hit ball in which he walked six and struck out two.
