H.S. Golf Roundup: Chautauqua Lake wins two in league

CHAUTAUQUA — Kole Maytum fired a 38 as Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Sherman won a pair of Division 2 West decisions on Thursday.

Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Sherman (3-0) defeated Forestville, 38-17, and downed Silver Creek, 38-17, while Forestville toppled Silver Creek, 33.5-25.5, in the other match.

Brock Ricketts and Hector West each had 46s for Forestville while Lance Daniels had the same score for Silver Creek.

Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Sherman: Kole Maytum 38, Justice Weimer 51, Daren Swanson 42, Derrick Martin 43, Chance Meeder 51, Arthur Parker-Gleason 61.

Forestville: Brock Ricketts 46, Phil Narraway 52, Hector West 46, Nik Leivseck 77, Vinia Swoserck 65.

Silver Creek: Andrew Hill 64, Conner Daniels 46, Joe Bowers 78, Taylor Nehrvoss 78, Vince Korino 43.

Cassadaga Valley defeats Frewsburg

CASSADAGA — Garrett Catanese was finding the green on Friday as he led the day in Cassadaga Valley’s (1-2 overall, 1-1 league) win, 36.5-18.5, over Frewsburg (0-1, 0-1) at the Cassadaga Country Club, par 35.

Catanese shot a 43 with Cassadaga Valley’s Top 5 being: Titus Miller, 47; Tyler Pacos, 52; Cody Lawson, 59; and Norman Barker, 60.

For Frewsburg, Billy Piazza led the way with a 51. Tyler Ridout, 60; Joey DiGregorio, 61; Joey Mihaly, 61; and Austin Anderson, 70, round out the Top 5.

Cassadaga Valley coach Jodi Hoffman said the conditions in this part of the season are rough on the fairways. With those caveats, Catanese still found a way to beat the competition.

“I think Garrett really stepped it up and was competitive,” Hoffman said.

Cassadaga Valley will play with Frewsburg, Forestville and Silver Creek at the Tri-County Country Club on Monday. It is estimated to begin at 3:30 p.m.

Maple Grove beats Silver Creek, Forestville

BEMUS POINT — Maple Grove defeated both Silver Creek and Forestville in regular season high school golf on Friday, 29.5-25.5 over Forestville and 33-21 over Silver Creek at Bemus Point Golf Course.

Ben Lockwood was the medalist for Maple Grove with a score of 41.

Silver Creek also had a notable performance from Connor Daniels, who scored 43.

Par for the course at Bemus Point was 36.

Maple Grove improves to 3-2 overall, with a 3-1 league record this season.

Solid day for Hoffman of Fredonia

FALCONER — Fredonia also had a solid day on the green against Falconer. 7th grader Lucas Hoffman scored a 45, despite a 9 on one hole. Owen Nicosia also had a solid day for Fredonia, with a score of 43. Fredonia is now (5-1, 2-1) ahead of a matchup with Southwestern.
