Trojans get past DHS in 9 innings
LAKEWOOD — Aidan Kennedy got the game-winning hit for Southwestern in a 3-2 CCAA West 1 high school baseball victory over Dunkirk on Saturday at Packard Field.
Kennedy drilled a single to right field to score Collin Melquist with the tie-breaking run in the ninth inning and give the Trojans the win.
Melquist led off the decisive inning with a single and went all the way to third base on a sacrifice and an error to set the stage for Kennedy.
Drew Wigren led Southwestern (3-1, 2-1) with two hits, including an RBI double.
Mitch Pascarella was the winning pitcher with five innings in relief of Luke Heil, who combined with Pascarella for 10 strikeouts.
Jonathan Pedrogo-Robles had two hits for Dunkirk while the Marauders’ starting pitcher, Jared Glowniak, went 7 1/3 innings.
“Jared Glowniak was outstanding on the mound for us today,” said Frank Jagoda, Dunkirk’s head coach.
