Cassadaga Valley advances in playoffs
SINCLAIRVILLE — Brittyn LeBaron nearly did it again. The Lady Cougars ace pitcher took a no-hitter into the final inning of a playoff game against Tapestry, en route to an eventual 9-1 victory on Thursday at Cassadaga Valley High School.
LeBaron finished with 11 strikeouts, while only allowing one hit and not allowing a walk. The perfect game bid was lost earlier in the game on an error, but the no-hitter was intact until the final frame.
In addition to her efforts in the circle, LeBaron led the way at the plate, as well, for the Lady Cougars. She had three hits on the day, with two doubles. Bella Ruiz also had three hits for Cassadaga Valley. The Lady Cougars scored seven runs in the fourth inning to break the game open.
Cassadaga Valley, the 3-seed in Class C, will now host 6-seed Maple Grove on Monday, who advanced after eliminating Brocton on Thursday.
