FHS track teams win; Brown sets 2 records

FALCONER — The Fredonia girls track team defeated Falconer on Tuesday, 80-60. The boys also won over Falconer, 79-61.

For the girls, Lydia Lanski and Emily Brown both won two individual events at the meet. Lanski took first in the 100 hurdles and the 400 hurdles, while Brown finished first in the 1500 and 3000.

Brown was coming off a strong weekend in which she broke two school records. On Friday, Brown broke the FHS 400 hurdles record with a time of 1:05.28 at the Super 8 Meet in Salamanca, then followed up the next day with a record time in the 2000 steeplechase with a time of 7:18.10. She took home first place in both events.

In the field portion of the meet on Tuesday, Lauren Kluck took first in the shot put and the discus for Fredonia. Other Fredonia winners on Tuesday included Claire Stokes and Amri Bauza.

For the Fredonia boys, Rian Budzinski was a triple-winner, with victories in the 110 hurdles, 400 hurdles and the long jump. Joell Colon won the 100 and the 200 for the Hillbillies, while Diego Rey, Jack Carlson, Josh Johnson, Jake Guerra and Hessen Bahgat were also victorious for Fredonia.
