Cassadaga Valley tops Fredonia, Silver Creek beats Dunkirk in thriller

Cassadaga Valley came out of Fredonia with another league win with a three set sweep of the Lady ‘Billies, 25-11, 25-20, 25-12 on Tuesday in Fredonia.

Fredonia (2-3, 2-3) was led by a pair of aces 13 digs from Maggie Mignoli. Nagely Vazquez had an ace and five kills.

Cassadaga Valley (5-2, 3-1) had 17 assists and a pair of aces from Kaitlyn Dahl. Heidi Williams had eight kills and two aces, while Katrinah Bretl had four kills and three digs. Brooke Repine added four kills, two blocks, two kills and an ace.

Fredonia is in action next on Thursday against Forestville in Fredonia. Cassadaga Valley is at Brocton/Westfield on Thursday.

Silver Creek 3,

Dunkirk 2

The Silver Creek Black Knights volleyball team won on Tuesday, with a win over Dunkirk in five sets, 21-25, 25-13, 23-25, 25-16, 25-22.

Kiera Brennan led Silver Creek on Tuesday, with a total of 13 kills, six digs and eight aces. Libby Lawton added nine kills and eight digs while Madison Mott pitched in ten kills and four digs.

For Dunkirk, Amari Carter finished with four kills and ten blocks while Nadara O’Dell added ten kills and four blocks. Jessica Buehler and Hannah Ellman each had seven assists.

“Our girls put on a show and played a tough game at home,” said Dunkirk head coach Kodie Hoyt. “They stayed positive like they always have and improved on mistakes from our previous games.”

Dunkirk will return to the court on Thursday when they travel to North Collins for a 6 p.m. start. Silver Creek hosts Gowanda on Thursday, as well.

North Collins 3, Brocton/Westfield 0

NORTH COLLINS — The North Collins Lady Eagles volleyball team won in three sets over Brocton/Westfield, 25-16, 25-6, 25-17 in a league contest.

North Collins (5-1, 5-0) was led by Deanne Wilson with 10 kills and two aces, Makenna Williams with 14 assists and two aces and Baylee Romano’s team-high nine aces.

Brocton/Westfield (0-6) had five kills and a block from Sophia DeMarco.

North Collins faces Dunkirk on Thursday at home. Brocton/Westfield travels to Cassadaga Valley on Thursday.

Gowanda 3,

Forestville 0

GOWANDA — The Gowanda Lady Panthers beat Forestville in three sets in a league volleyball contest at Gowanda High School by scores of 25-14, 25-20, 25-20.

Gowanda (5-1, 4-1) had 10 kills and three aces from Miya Scanlan, while Summer Allen had a team-high 27 assists, along with three aces. Marleah Stevens had nine kills for Gowanda.

Forestville (2-4, 2-2) was led by Rhianna Nasal with 10 assists, three aces and two kills.

Gowanda and Forestville are each in action once again on Thursday. Gowanda is at Silver Creek, while Forestville is at Fredonia.
