Fredonia State’s Bentham earns player of week

CORTLAND — The State University of New York Athletic Conference has selected its Men’s Soccer Offensive and Defensive Athletes of the Week. The Offensive Athlete of the Week is New Paltz sophmore Kevin Doorley while the Defensive Athlete of the Week is Fredonia junior Ty Bentham.

Doorley led New Paltz to a 3-0 record to begin the 2018 season. Doorley scored in all three games, including two goals in the first game vs. Skidmore and two assists vs. Union College. He finished the week with five goals, two assists, and a total of 10 points.

Bentham started at goalkeeper for Fredonia in both games during the week. In games against Medaille and Elmira, he faced nine shots but did not give up any goals. Bentham now has nine cleansheets in his Fredonia career.
