Cassadaga Valley tops Dunkirk three sets to none
OBSERVER Staff Report
Cassadaga Valley beat Dunkirk in Tuesday’s Section VI high school volleyball game, three sets to none, 25-16, 25-17 and 25-16 at Dunkirk High School.
“The girls did everthing they could have. Cassadaga just had us up on skill, if we had a good play they just had a better one. They played up with them a majority of the sets and kept a hold of them,” said Dunkirk head coach Kodi Hoyt.
The Lady Cougars’ offense was led by Brooke Repine and Katrina Bretl, who both combined for 20 points. Repine had eight aces, one block and two kills, while Bretl registered five aces, five kills and two digs. Kaitlyn Zahl also contributed to 11 of Cassadaga’s points, providing nine assists and two aces.
The Lady Marauders’ effort was led by both Amari Carter and Jessica Beehler. Carter provided five tips, three blocks and two aces. The Lady Marauders got four assists and two aces from Beehler.
Dunkirk (1-1, 0-1) hopes to change its fortune on Thursday, as the Lady Marauders take on arch rival Fredonia at Fredonia High School at 6:30 p.m. Cassadaga Valley (2-1, 1-0) will take its talents to Forestville, as the Lady Cougars hope to continue their winning form.
