Fredonia tops Maple Grove, 5-0

LAKEWOOD — The Fredonia Hillbillies girls tennis team continued their winning ways on Tuesday, defeating Maple Grove 5-0 in a competitive match. The match saw three tiebreaker sets played throughout the five games played.

Bernie Gens was able to continue to win, defeating Maple Grove’s Elise Swanson 6-2, 6-2 in the first match of the day. Following her, Alicia Kluck won again as well in the second singles match, 7-6, 6-0 over Jenna Hayes.

Selin Arnavut rounded out the singles victories for Fredonia while the doubles pair of Nicole Cosico and Leigha Hoisington won handily. The last doubles match was won in a tight match as Marissa Burr and Mackenzie Crandall won 7-5, 6-7, 10-8 in a thrilling match.

Fredonia (8-1, 5-0) will play again this afternoon at home against Chautauqua Lake at 4 p.m.
