Ellicottville wins Div. 2 East title, tops North Collins

ELLICOTTVILLE — The Ellicottville Eagles clinched the CCAA Division 2 East boys basketball division on Friday night with a 39-28 win over North Collins at Ellicottville High School.

But it didn’t come easily.

North Collins (1-12, 0-8) held a 22-16 lead at halftime over Ellicottville (12-6, 9-0), who struggled immensely on the offensive end in the first half.

“We shot poorly all night, but in the second half we upped our defensive intensity,” said Ellicottville coach Dave McCann.

In the fourth quarter, Logan Grinols hit a go-ahead 3-pointer and Ellicottville led the rest of the way. North Collins was held scoreless the entire fourth quarter.

Wyatt Chudy and Clayton Rowland each had ten points on Friday to lead Ellicottville in the win. Chudy had 10 rebounds, as well, while Rowland had eight rebounds, four assists and four steals. North Collins had ten points apiece from David Gullo and Tyler Robinson, who also had six blocks.

Ellicottville looks to sweep the league with a win over Pine Valley on Monday.
