Local soccer athletes find success in offseason

Alex Procknal, an eighth grade varsity soccer player with Silver Creek, recently wrapped up an indoor championship with his offseason club, the Hamburg SC Black Elite U16. The team competes at the Sahlen’s Sports Park against other travel programs. Procknal helped his squad to a 6-1-1 record, recording five shutouts on their way to the championship.

In the teams semifinal playoff game, Hamburg was able to knock off the Lancaster-Depew Strikers, 3-1 while advancing to the finals against Euro Dortmund. In the championship game, Hamburg was able to close the deal with a 1-0 defeat of Euro Dortmund. Along with players from Silver Creek, the team also has players representing Lake Shore, Frontier, Hamburg and St. Francis.

The team continues indoor play at Sportsplex Winter League and Super Series Elite before heading outdoors for in the “A” division of th BWNYJSL as well as other showcase tournaments.
