Dunkirk dominant in win over Falconer, Fredonia sweeps Panama

OBSERVER Staff Report

The Dunkirk Marauders swept the Falconer Golden Falcons, 5-0, Tuesday in boys high school tennis action.

In first singles, Dunkirk’s Ryan Wills took care of Coleson Barber, 6-4, 6-2.

In second doubles, Dunkirk’s Jordan Cooley won via forfeit, while in third singles, Dominic Begier had a strong showing for the Marauders with a 6-1, 6-1 victory.

Dunkirk’s first doubles team of Sebastian Degolier and Shaun Kelley stopped Nick Bloom and Greg Holmberg, 6-4, 6-0.

To complete the sweep, Dunkirk’s Zachary Ardillo and Matthew Levan defeated Zachary Kianos and Jacob Booth, 6-2, 6-4.

“This was a night of some really fun to watch tennis,” Dunkirk coach Allie Saye said. “I have to say that the Match of the Day goes to first singles. They were first on the courts, and last to leave. Coleson Barber is only an eighth grader, and he has a really great slice and serve. Of course I was pleased that Ryan (Wills) came out on top, but I can’t wait to see the rematch when we visit Falconer in May.”
