FORESTVILLE — The Forestville Lady Hornets won their second league game of the season on Monday, with an 11-5 win over Panama in CCAA Division 2 West softball action at Forestville High School.

Forestville (2-1, 2-0) found itself in an early hole after the Lady Panthers scored a pair of runs in the top of the first inning thanks to hits from Abi Lisciandro and Maci Johnson. That Panama duo accounted for most of the Lady Panthers’ offense on Monday, as each went 3-for-4 on the day, while Johnson had a double and two RBI. Headed into the bottom of the third inning, Panama (1-2, 1-2) still held the 2-0 lead.

That’s when Forestville took the lead and never looked back. Forestville scored three runs in the bottom of the third inning, highlighted by a 2-run home run by Lillee Gould. The Lady Hornets broke the game open with five runs in the next inning, then tacked on three more in the sixth inning.

“Their bats really came alive today,” said Forestville head coach Brianne Hazelton after Monday’s win.

In addition to the Gould home run, the Kingsfield sisters each contributed to the offense with mulit-hit games. Clare Kingsfield went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, while Phoebe Kingsfield went 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI.

Kaitlyn Alguire pitched all seven innings for Forestville to earn the win. She struck out eight and did not allow a walk.
