Lady Marauders get win over Jamestown, 10-6

JAMESTOWN — Dunkirk (2-0, 1-0) earned a strong 10-6 win over Jamestown, in a Section VI non-league softball game at Jefferson Middle School, on Tuesday. The Lady Marauders battled the elements and the Lady Red Raiders for their second win of the season, 10-6.

Monica Pokoj was in the circle for Dunkirk and went the distance, giving up 10 hits, two walks and getting seven strikeouts in her win over Jamestown. Pokoj also added two singles offensively.

Lindsey Spitz was pitching for Jamestown and gave up 14 hits, eight walks in seven innings of work, while getting two strikeouts.

“Was a rollercoaster of a game,” said Dunkirk head coach Michelle Gilmour. “By the end of the fourth we settled in and our defense picked it up.”

Dunkirk’s offense was led by Kymi Nance who went 3-4 with both a double and triple, while knocking in two runs; Ashley Gotowka also went 3-4 with a double and an RBI; and Kaitlyn Davis went 2-4 with two RBI.

Jamestown saw a great day from Olivia Gates who went 3-4 with two triples and an RBI.

Dunkirk is back in action today when they host Falconer for a league game.
