Bulldogs take down Maple Grove in tune up for playoffs, 7-6

BROCTON — The Brocton Bulldogs (7-6) took down the Maple Grove Red Dragons, 7-6, in a Section VI non-league baseball game at Brocton High School, on Wednesday. Brocton and Maple Grove (9-4) got together for one last tune up game before the sectional playoffs begin, and the Bulldogs narrowly edged out the Red Dragons, 7-6.

Ronald Brown earned the win for Brocton, pitching four innings and giving up just one run, on one hit and seven strikeouts. Michael Stewart earned the save for Brocton, coming in for the seventh inning — Stewart pitched a scoreless inning and struck out one.

The losing pitcher for Maple Grove was Tucker Fenton.

Offensively, for the Bulldogs, Derrick Burns went 2-for-3 with an RBI, Jordan Krystofiak went 1-for-3 and scored two runs, and Brown went 1-for-2.

For Maple Grove, Taige Jones went 2-for-3 and scored two runs, Jacob Vaillancourt went 2-for-3 with a RBI and Jackson Gowan went 1-for-1.
