Colon leads Fredonia at Falconer Invitational

RANDOLPH — The Fredonia Hillbillies saw many track and field stars have impressive results on Friday at the Falconer Invitational in Randolph. Standing out the most was a first place finish by Joell Colon in the 100m dash in 11.56 seconds.
Colon wasn’t done on the day, also placing second in the 200m in 23.73. His teammates had strong showings, as well. Also in the 200m, Andrew Kennedy took eighth in 25.05. In the 1,600m, Jack Carlson was third in 4:40.20, while Diego Rey was fourth in 4:42.66. Hessen Bahgat was third in the pole vault with 11 feet. In the 400m, Oliver Madariaga was fifth in 54.06, while Kevin Redfield was eighth in 57.84. In the discus, Nate Shuart was sixth with a throw of 120-feet-8-inches. In the high jump, Zach Korzeniewski was fifth with a jump of 5-feet-2-inches.
The 4x400m relay team of Kennedy, Shuart, Dyress Batten and Colon took second in 46.54, while the 1600m relay team of Madariaga, Redfield, Ledreth Velez-Olmo and Rey was sixth in 3:49.72.
