In singles competition on Thursday, Gens defeated Eston Shedd of Southwestern 6-0, 6-1 in the semifinals. Gens lost in the final to Frewsburg’s Jameson Sposato 6-4, 6-2. In doubles competition on Thursday, Fredonia’s Max Kinkela, Caleb Reynolds defeated their Fredonia teammates, Jimmy Rush and Dan Gifford, 6-1, 7-6 (7-5) in the semifinals. Kinkela and Reynolds fell to Filip Morawski and Thomas Bates of Olean 6-0, 6-2 in the final. Rush and Gifford finished in third place after a win over Carson Heimburg and Elliott Jackson of Panama 6-1, 6-4. All five of Fredonia’s players will travel to Orchard Park on Tuesday for the Section VI Championships.
