Fredonia blanks Cassadaga Valley in both legs of double-header, 5-0

SINCLAIRVILLE — Fredonia won both games of a double-header against Cassadaga Valley, 5-0, in a Section VI tennis match at Cassadaga Valley High School, on Monday. An eight game set was played and players switched positions in the second match, so as to play someone different.

In singles competition, Dan Gifford won both his first and second match 8-1, first against Katrinah Bretl then beating Conner Austin. Neil Gens and Jimmy Rush both secured dominant 8-0 victories in match one. While in match two singles, Max Kinkela and Caleb Reynolds secured 8-0 and 8-1 wins, respectively.

In doubles competition, the duo of Max Kinkela and Caleb Reynolds earned a big 8-0 victory over Chloe Ekstrom and Lucas Bouquin in match one. Then Trevor Napoli and Tim Davis earned a hard fought 8-3 win for Fredonia over the team of Haley Dahl and Connor Austin, securing the 5-0 match one victory. Jimmy Rush and Neil Gens teamed up in the second match for an 8-0 victory. The Hillbillies finished off the second match victory with an 8-2 win from Neil Cosico and Tim Davis.

Fredonia is back in action on Wednesday when they host Westfield.
