Gowanda’s Musacchio sets school shot put record at Super 8 meet

OBSERVER Staff Report

SALAMANCA — Gowanda High School senior Andrew Musacchio broke the school record in the shot put for the second consecutive meet and defended his title in the Super 8 meet Friday night in Salamanca.

After breaking Dick Utley’s 66 year old school record last Tuesday in Gowanda against Dunkirk during a dual meet with a heave of 48-feet-10 3/4-inches. Musacchio won again Friday night with a winning toss of 49-feet-1 3/4-inches.

“Andrew threw better each time he entered the circle at the Super 8 last night” commented Panthers coach Mark Benton. “His last throw broke his own school record that he set just three days ago.”

Musacchio is now one of just a few back to back champions at the Super 8 meet that began in 1987. Gowanda will host Falconer/Cassadaga Valley on Monday, beginning at 4:30 pm.
