ONLINE ONLY: Westfield softball falls to Randolph, 13-4

WESTFIELD — The Randolph Lady Cardinals will face off with the Westfield Lady Wolverines in the first round of the Section VI, Class C2 softball playoffs on Thursday. On Tuesday, however, both teams got an early look at each other in a non-league contest at Westfield Academy. Randolph came away with the win, 13-4, over Westfield in the regular season finale for both teams.

Randolph (3-seed, Class C2) got a solid eight strikeout performance in the circle from Abbigail Mansfield, who only walked one batter in the contest. Westfield’s Tanleigh Bestine walked five, while only striking out two batters in the loss.

Offensively, Nikole Lockwood was 3-for-5 at the plate for Randolph. Bestine and Haleigh Dellow were the standouts for Westfield, each with extra base hits. Bestine had a triple, while Dellow had a double.

Randolph hosts Westfield on Thursday in a Class C2 playoff contest.
