Softball seedings give Dunkirk, Fredonia home games

The 2019 Section VI softball playoff brackets were announced late on Monday. Several local teams play today, and a few earned home games. All games will begin at 4:45 p.m.

In Class B1, Dunkirk earned the No. 7 seed with a 9-5 record and opens up play today with a home game against No. 10 seed East Aurora, the winner will play No. 2 seed Alden next Tuesday.

For Class B2, Fredonia (11-2) earned the No. 3 seed along with a first round bye, the Lady ‘Billies will host the winner of No. 6 seed Wilson Central (9-6) versus No. 11 seed JFK (1-13-3) on Thursday at Fredonia High School. No. 9 seed Gowanda (5-11) travels to Allegany-Limestone (8-9) today, with the winner getting a shot at No. 1 seed Eden.

Reigning Class C State Champion Chautauqua Lake (13-4) earned the No. 1 seed and will get a shot at the winner of Falconer against Silver Creek. No. 5 seed Silver Creek travels to No. 4 seed Falconer on Thursday.

In Class C2, No. 8 seed Cassadaga Valley (0-15) is tasked with facing No. 1 seed Frewsburg (14-2) on Thursday. No. 6 seed Westfield (3-10) is also on the road on Thursday, when they go and play No. 3 seed Randolph (11-7) at Randolph High School.

For Class D, Forestville claimed the No. 2 seed with a 8-5 record and will host winless Franklinville on Thursday. No. 4 seed Brocton (8-7) earned a home playoff game against No. 5 seed Pine Valley (6-9). North Collins claimed the No. 3 seed, but will play at No. 6 seed Sherman (3-12) today at Sherman High School.

In Class A, Lake Shore (12-4) earned the No. 3 seed and will host West Seneca East (6-10) on Thursday at Lake Shore High School.
