Wolverines knock off Marauders, 3-2

The Westfield Wolverines narrowly took down Dunkirk, 3-2, in a Section VI tennis match at Dunkirk High School, on Monday. The Wolverines swept doubles competition and took a singles victory on their way to the 3-2 victory over the Marauders.

Dunkirk opened up with a victory in first singles, as Ryan Wills defeated Marilynn Amborski with scores of 6-1 and 6-2. The Marauders would go up 2-0, as Dominic Begier defeated Isaac Caballero who had to pull out with an injury.

Westfield kept the hopes of victory with a big win in the final singles match. Cooper Harris of Westfield was dominant, getting a 6-1 and 6-0 victory over Dunkirk’s Matthew Levan.

Westfield’s doubles teams closed out the victory for the Wolverines. The duo of Katie Bodenmiller and Olivia Clamp defeated Shaun Kelly and Jeremy Bohn, 6-1, 6-2 in the first doubles match. In the final match of the day, the duo of Josh Heim and Olivia Kitchen defeated Sebastian Degolier and Zachary Ardillo, 6-1, 6-0, giving Westfield the 3-2 victory on the day.
