The Dunkirk High School Class of 1989 will host the fifth annual Marauder Trotter 5k Run/Walk on Saturday, July 6 along the Dunkirk waterfront starting and ending at Wright Park.

The event will start at 9 a.m. The pre-sale cost is $25 for adults and $30 day of race.

Race registration and donations can be made online at https://runsignup.com/Race/NY/Dunkirk/MarauderTrotter5KRunWalk. Paper registrations can also be downloaded from the registration site or from the Facebook page at Marauder Trotter 5K Run & Walk and mailed to Jennifer Ellman at 3705 New Road, Dunkirk, NY 14701.

The Marauder Trotter, which is a part of the Striders Athletic Club UPMC Chautauqua WCA Runner of the Year Series, is under the direction of classmates D.J. Wilson and Scott Mekus.

Early race packet pick up (race bib, t-shirt and goodie bag) and last minute pre-registration will take place Friday, July 5 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Clarion Hotel patio. Race chip timing will be provided by Chautauqua Striders.

The open-to-public fund raiser will also include cash finish prizes, awards to the top three finishers in each age group, awards ceremony, large basket raffle, entertainment by DJ Joe Gould, snacks, refreshments and the DHS Marauder mascot.

All race proceeds will benefit the Dunkirk High School Class of 1989 Memorial Scholarship managed by the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation in honor of their deceased classmates — Paula Kuschel, Jennifer Styborski, Jody Wdowiasz, Mike Koch, Robert Pierce, James Kulpa, Susan Butts, Elizabeth Barnes, Tony Quiles, Susan Gorka (Stoyle), Scott Roesler, Todd Iskra, Paul Szach, Joe Pieszak, John Gizowski, Tammy Crawford, Corey Marshall and Jodie Wickham (Santiago).

All basket raffle proceeds will be donated to each of the four classes (2020 – 2024) at Dunkirk High School to be used for Homecoming 2019 expenses. To donate a basket or gift certificate, please contact Terri Vasquez at 673-5452 or email at btvav@verizon.net.
