Fredonia Fury 16u Softball takes Buffalo Metro Softball Title
We are the champions!
The 2019 Fredonia Fury 16u softball team recently completed their season by claiming the Buffalo Metro Girls Softball League silver bracket title.
In the first round of the playoffs, Fredonia defeated Evans Force by a score of 18-5. They scored six runs in the first inning, five runs in the second inning and never looked back. Kyleigh Waterman lead the Fury attack with a moonshot homerun to left field and a single. Erin Schrantz had two doubles and Hallie Laurito, Jama Pacheco, Marissa Cash and Gabby Matos also had multi-hit games.
In the semifinals, Fredonia took care of Cambria Rampage 16-0 in a five inning mercy rule game. The Fury bats were once again on fire with another 16 hit effort. Lila Cameron led the attack with four hits from the leadoff spot. Sarah Davis, Nevaeh Zadzilka, Laurito and Waterman had two hits apiece. Fury pitcher Maddy Marsh only allowed two hits over 5 innings of work.
The championship game was held in Lockport against the Sandlot Saints. This game was a true battle that included four lead changes. The turning point was a big five run 4th inning by Fredonia. Maddy Marsh had four hits including a triple, Makenna Honey had two hits as did Sarah Davis. Hallie Laurito had a clutch triple in the 7th inning that scored two runs. Pitcher Jama Pacheco went the distance to get the win.
