Sixth annual Child Advocacy Program of Chautauqua County 5K/walk takes place in September

Submitted photo Runners compete in last year’s Child Advocacy 5K. This year marks the sixth annual running of this event, which will take place along Cassadaga Lake on Sept. 26, 2019.

The Child Advocacy Program of Chautauqua County (CAP) will hold the 6th Annual 5K Run/Walk and Kids’ Hero Run around beautiful Cassadaga Lake, starting and ending at the beach on Park Street in Cassadaga, NY Saturday, September 28, 2019.

CAP’s mission is to end child abuse in Chautauqua County, and when abuse occurs, CAP coordinates a community response to bring healing, hope and justice to these children and families. The Step Up for Kids Run is an awareness event to raise funds to support CAP’s counseling and advocacy programs, prevention trainings, forensic interviews and medical evaluations. CAP has two offices, one at 405 West Third Street in Jamestown and another at 40 East Main Street in Fredonia.

The Step Up For Kids 5K is USATF certified and sanctioned. Step Up For Kids 5k is also part of the Striders Athletic Club 2019 Runner of the Year Series. Timing will be conducted by Trackqua using chip technology. Proceeds support the Child Advocacy Program of Chautauqua County.

CAP encourages community members register for the 5KRun/Walk, or attend the event to show support and learn about the mission and services. You can register online at capjustice.org or call CAP at 716-338-9844. Race day registration begins at 9 a.m. with the 5K Run/Walk starting at 10 a.m. There will also be a Kids’ Hero Run at 9:45 am.
