CHEEKTOWAGA -- The Silver Creek/Forestville Black Knights have struggled with injuries early this season, leading to three straight losses to open the year.
Saturday afternoon, the Black Knights headed to Cleveland Hill to take on a perennial powerhouse in Section VI.
It was a blowout, where the winners ran away with a 34-12 victory. The winners, however, were the Black Knights.
Silver Creek/Forestville ran wild over Cleveland Hill, with 353 yards rushing in Saturday's Class C North victory.
Three different rushers averaged over eight yards per carry, all three over 70 yards and at least one touchdown. Leading the way was Angel Caraballo with a whopping 175 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Hunter Larson had 97 yards and two touchdowns for the Black Knights, while quarterback Dom Jamison earned his first win as QB1 with 72 yards rushing and a touchdown on the ground, with another touchdown through the air to Sam Braidich.
After a scoreless first quarter, Silver Creek/Forestville (1-3, 1-2) scored a pair of touchdowns to take a 14-6 lead into halftime. Larson's first of two touchdowns on the day was the game's first score, while Jamison's passing score to Braidich extended the lead.
Caraballo's touchdown came in the third quarter on a 32-yard carry, the game's longest score. The Black Knights defense shut out Cleveland Hill in the third quarter, just as it did in the first quarter. The Black Knights defense also had a pair of interceptions in the victory and a forced fumble.
Cleveland Hill cut the deficit to just 10 points, 22-12, early in the fourth quarter. From that point on, Silver Creek/Forestville punctuated the game with a pair of touchdowns to seal the victory. Jamison and Larson capped the game off with a pair of rushing scores.
Silver Creek/Forestville now heads home for the final three weeks of the season all at Silver Creek High School. The first of three home games is Friday night against Royalton-Hartland.
