Cassadaga Valley, Gowanda pick up CCAA North victories

SINCLAIRVILLE — The Cassadaga Valley Lady Cougars (3-2, 3-0) knocked off the Silver Creek Black Knights (2-2) in three sets, 25-18, 25-15, 25-19, in a Section VI CCAA North Division volleyball match at Cassadaga Valley High School.

The Lady Cougars were led by Meghan LeBaron with five kills, four aces, four digs and two blocks; Heidi Williams with six kills, four digs and three aces; Kaitlyn Dahl with 16 assists and three kills; and Brielle LeBaron with seven digs, four kills and an ace.

Silver Creek’s effort was led by Kiera Brennan with nine kills and two aces; Liberty Lawton with four kills and three aces; and Yanna Mott with six assists and four digs.

The Cassadaga Valley jayvees also were winners prior to the varsity matchup.

The Lady Cougars are back in action on Friday at Fredonia, while Silver Creek will play Pine Valley tonight.

Gowanda 3, Westfield 0

WESTFIELD — The Gowanda Panthers (3-1, 2-1) knocked off Westfield (0-4, 0-4) in three sets, 25-18, 25-8, 25-11 in a Section VI CCAA North volleyball match, at Westfield Academy, on Wednesday.

The Panthers were led by Marleah Stevens with 11 aces, seven kills and two digs, Miya Scanlan with four kills, four digs and two aces and Zoey Kota had 11 assists.

Gowanda is back in action on Friday when it hosts Forestville, while Westfield will travel to North Collins on Friday.
