Fredonia, Frewsburg girls see 93-93 deadlock in swimming

The Fredonia Lady Billies swim meet against Frewsburg on Thursday night ended in a 93-93 stalemate.

In the first meet, the 200 Medley Relay, Fredonia’s team of Lillee Gould, Jenna Sherlock, Tori Spacciapolli, and Amelia Harper finished first with a time of 2:15.20.

In the 200 Freestyle, Jenna Sherlock of Fredonia took first place with a time of 2:27.94.

In the 200 Meter IM, Fredonia’s Tori Spacciapolli earned first place honors with a time of 2:35.74.

Fredonia continued their run of race wins, as Lillee Gould won the 50 Freestyle, and Elizabeth Pucci-Schaefer, a seventh grader, was first place in the one meter dive, earning a score of 242.32.

Frewsburg’s first event win came in the 100 Meter Freestyle, as Kayle Constantino took first with a time of 1:07.96, and their second win came in the 400 Meter Freestyle, featureing Olivia Eckstrom finishing with a time of 5:09.13.

Fredonia won the next team event, as Harper, Spacciapolli, Julia Fortna, and Julie Fortna won the 200 Meter Freestyle Relay with a time of 2:00.48.

Fredonia won the next two events, as Harper won the 100 Meter Backstroke with a time of 1:18.50, and Tori Spacciapolli won the 100 Meter Breaststroke with a time of 1:18.85.

The style of pool was a different task the Lady Billies don’t face often, and coach JoAnne Lotter was pleased to see her team perform.

Frewsburg won the last team event, as Olivia Eckstrom, Kaylynn Powers, Riley Chitester, and Emily Swan finished the 400 Meter Freestyle Relay with a time of 4:42.41.

“We were proud of the girls competing in a meter pool when we train in a yard pool, we had some great races today,” Lotter said.

Fredonia is next in action on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 5 p.m. at Olean.
