Lady Marauders beat Silver Creek in 3 sets

The Dunkirk Lady Marauders took care of the Silver Creek Black Knights in three sets, 25-14, 25-16, 25-22, for a Setion VI CCAA North division volleyball win at Dunkirk High School, on Monday.

“I’m excited to see the growth and improvement from the team overall,” stated Dunkirk head coach Kate Stahlman. “They continue to keep working together as a team and encourage each other throughout the whole game despite any mistakes made along the way.”

The Lady Marauders were led to victory by Jessica Beehler with five aces and two kills, Gina Salerno three kills and two aces, Nadara O’Dell four kills and two aces and Amari carter two kills and three blocks.

Dunkirk will look for another win on Wednesday on the road in Fredonia.

“One of the strengths our team has is not giving up on each other during our moments of weakness,” added Coach Stahlman. “Also, throughout the season the girls have been able to identify putting “aces in their places.“”

Fredonia 3, Pine Valley 0

SOUTH DAYTON — The Fredonia Hillbillies (3-3, 3-3) took down Pine Valley (4-3, 2-3), 25-16, 25-14, 25-19, for a 3-0 victory in a Section VI CCAA North volleyball match at Pine Valley High School, on Monday.

Fredonia’s winning effort was led by Anna Valone with 10 kills, six digs and two aces; Nagely Vazquez with six kills and two aces; Marissa Cash with four digs and nine aces and Tess Corell with 12 assists, four digs and four aces.

The Hillbillies are back in action on Wednesday when they host rival Dunkirk.

Gowanda 3, Cassadaga Valley 2

SINCLAIRVILLE — The Gowanda Lady Panthers stepped into hostile territory and knocked off the Lady Cougars in a five set thriller, 25-22, 20-25, 25-13, 12-25, 25-22, in a Section VI CCAA North volleyball game at Cassadaga Valley High School, on Monday.

The Panthers (4-1, 3-1) winning effort was led by Marleah Stevens with 10 kills, four aces and 17 digs; Miya Scanlan with 11 kills and 20 digs and Paige Gabel five kills, four aces, seven blocks and two digs.

“It came down to it at the end and Gowanda made the points when they needed them,” stated Cassadaga Valley head coach Denny Wakelee.

The Lady Cougars (4-3, 4-1) effort was led by Heidi Williams with six kills, six digs and three aces; Meghan LeBaron with eight digs, five kills and four blocks and Brielle LeBaron with five kills, four digs, three blocks and two aces.

“Gowanda, they’re a good hitting team,” added Coach Wakelee. “Unfortunately, we weren’t passing very well and it led to a lot of hard hits by Gowanda.”

Gowanda is back in action on Wednesday when they host Pine Valley. Cassadaga Valley will attempt to get back in the win column on Wednesday as they head to North Collins.

North Collins 3, Forestville 0

FORESTVILLE — The North Collins girls volleyball team traveled to Forestville on Monday night for a league match. The Eagles swept the Hornets with the scores of 25-14, 25-16 and 25-21. Makenna Williams had 16 assists, six kills and two aces. Deanne Wilson, Michaela Rice and McKenna Rice each added in six kills. The teams overall record is 5 and 0. They will host Cassadaga Valley on Wednesday night during their “Camo” theme night.
