Chautauqua Lake tops Falconer, 3-2

FALCONER — The Chautauqua Lake Lady Thunderbirds defeated the Falconer Lady Falcons by a score of 3-2 in a girls tennis match in Falconer on Tuesday. The matches were a pro-set format, with lack of daylight and cold temperatures.

Chautauqua Lake’s Emily Bauer won in first singles, 10-6, over Falconer’s Macy Youngberg. The Lady Thunderbirds forfeited the second singles match. Then Falconer’s Lauren Allen defeated Chautauqua Lake’s Elizabeth Marshaus by a 10-0 score to take a 2-1 lead on the day.

Chautauqua Lake won the contest with victories in both first and second singles matches. Kira Erikson and Elise Riedesel won 10-4 in first singles over Falconer’s Aubin Barber and Ashley Pierce, then Chautauqua Lake’s Naomi Fisher and Abby Paulus defeated Falconer’s Kyra Kanicki and Angelina Fiasco 10-6 to come away on top with the team victory.

The singles competition winners, Bauer and Allen, will compete next in the singles tournament with an opportunity to participate in the Sectionals at stake.
