OBSERVER Staff Report

The Fredonia wrestling team started their season with a commanding victory over the Dunkirk Marauders, winning 66-18 on Tuesday night.

Fredonia’s victory was headed by Cole Golembieski (170 lbs), who pinned Dunkirk’s Justin Medeiros, while Mike Ball (106 lbs) pinned Dunkirk’s Carlos Rosario.

Dunkirk’s Austin Freitas (195 lbs) was able to pin Fredonia’s Jonny Skrok, and Adam Sanchez (152 lbs) was able to take down Gabrial Hellwig.

Lucas Hoffman, Antonio Pagan, Dalton Gardner, Hunter Larson, Alex Christi, and Yaniel Acevedo all won by pin as well for Fredonia.

“I’m very pleased with how our team attacked,” said Fredonia coach Joe Santilli. “It was an exciting match, and it was great to see the stands full. I wouldn’t expect anything else from a Fredonia-Dunkirk match.”

Fredonia is next in action against Southwestern, on Wednesday, Dec. 4.
